My name is Debbie and I am a trained Babywearing Consultant. I completed the ClauWi basic course in March 2010 and the DieTrageschule TM basic course in March 2011. I am hoping to complete the advanced course with Die Trageschule soon. I am also a member of the British Association of Babywearing Instructors.

I am mum to Bethany who was born in October 2005, Finlay who was born in August 2007, and Zachary who was born in May 2010.

I tried a couple of high street carriers with Bethany when she was a baby, but having failed to make them comfortable for either her or myself, quickly gave up trying to use them. When I was pregnant with Finlay, I bought a stretchy wrap and used this successfully with him until he was around 6 months old. I then moved on to using a mei tai, before going on to try a soft structured carrier, a podaegi and finally, when he outgrew all of the other carriers, a woven wrap. I have since used woven wraps to carry each of my children with ease.

I founded Southampton Sling Meet in December 2008 so that other local parents could come along and try out a wide range of slings and get advice on using them.

I decided that I wanted to get some formal training on the correct use of slings and using them to support the correct development of babies’ spines and hips, and so I undertook training to become a Babywearing Consultant. It is an honour to be able to use this training to help parents to discover the joy and freedom of babywearing for themselves.
