As a Babywearing Consultant, I offer both introductory sessions and consultations.

Introductory sessions

An introductory session lasts about 20 minutes and is suitable for both individual families and larger groups.  In an introductory session, we would cover the basics of infant development after birth, the adaptations of the human infant which make carrying its preferred environment, optimum positioning for hip and spine development and the use of slings to achieve these. Carries would be demonstrated, but not taught in any detail in these sessions due to the time constraints. If you choose to book a consultation after attending the introductory session, the cost of this session would be deducted from the price of the consultation.

Consultations

A consultation lasts for 2-2.5 hours and is most suitable for individual families, although they can accommodate up to 3 families with more limited opportunity for individual tuition. We would cover the theory of infant development after birth, the adaptations of the human infant which make carrying its preferred environment, optimum positioning for hip and spine development and the use of slings to achieve these. We would investigate which carrying method would be most suitable for the individual family or families and then practise these carrying methods to ensure that parents are comfortable and confident in using them. Ongoing support is available via email or telephone conversations and/or further consultations.

Costs

An introductory session costs £10 per family. A consultation costs £25 for an individual family where one parent wants to learn to carry the baby, or £30 if both parents would like tuition. Follow-up consultations (for tuition on further wrapping methods or to learn how to use different carriers) cost £20. Costs for group consultations are available on request. Subsidies are available for low income families – please email me for further details.

These prices apply to families who live in Southampton. Both introductory sessions and consultations are available to families who live in other areas, by arrangement. Please email me for further details.
